The intimate \u201cTo the Sea,\u201d the longest work here, paints a tender portrait of coastal communities, while the four-movement title suite &#8220;You Are Not Alone&#8221; is a personal, heartrending voyage through\u2014and away from\u2014the shattering pain of grief. The luminous beauty of Caplan\u2019s music stems from his influences Aaron Copland and John Corigliano\u2014most apparent in the gorgeous &#8220;Love Letters,&#8221; a touching tribute to Caplan\u2019s husband.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/olivercaplan.us2.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=cfad2f0dbb02375eb982a5b28&amp;id=f1eecd1e2a&amp;e=9d0ff67229\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The American Prize<\/a> has named Oliver\u00a0a semi-finalist for the 2017 prize in vocal chamber music composition for the album&#8217;s\u00a0capstone track, <em>Connect All. We All Connect. <\/em>(lyrics by Barry Duncan).
