Juventas New Music Ensemble will perform audience favorite Love Letters on its season opening concert “American Mirror.” Oliver wrote Love Letters (flute, clarinet, string quartet) in 2015 as a wedding gift for his husband Landscape Architect Chris Beagan. Critically acclaimed, the piece was a Finalist for both the American Prize in Chamber Music Composition and the Cum Laude Music Award.

Oliver is dedicating the 9/26 performance to Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, writing:

Her role in the Supreme Court’s 5-4 affirmation of marriage equality changed our lives—and the lives of countless couples nationwide —forever.“

The program also includes works by Allison Loggins-Hull, Mari Kotskyy, Derrick Spiva Jr., Jessica Meyer and Miguel del Avila.

The event will be live-streamed on YouTube at 8pm on September 26. Audience members are also invited to join a pre-concert “Composer Conversation at 7pm on Zoom.  Both events are free and open to all.
