Juventas will reprise Oliver’s trio In the Direction of Dreams in its Sounds of New England program, Sunday, May 4 at First Parish Sudbury.

In the Direction of Dreams (clarinet, cello, piano) commemorates the 50th anniversary of the United States Wild & Scenic Rivers Act. Nature has long been a source of peace and creativity for Oliver, and this piece unfolds in three movements inspired by one of his favorite walks—alongside Walden Pond, through Adams Woods, and down to Fairhaven Bay. This path, which traces the historic setting of Thoreau’s Life in the Woods, is a landscape of pine forests, stone walls, swimming holes, and a shimmering river—preserved and cherished for generations thanks to its protected status.

Sounds of New England also includes music by Stacy Garrop, Gwyneth Walker, Rachel Panitch and Jason Cain.
