The Boston City Singers Cambridge Children’s Chorus will premiere Oliver’s newest piece Wings to Fly on January 21. Wings to Fly was commissioned by BCS, with original poetry by frequent collaborator Meghan Guidry. Meghan’s lyrics grew out of a collaborative workshop in which the student singers shared their sentiments on what the theme Wings to Fly means to them. Meghan deployed key words and concepts from the chorus, spinning them into a moving poem, which Oliver then set to music for the chorus, with piano accompaniment.
