Juventas New Music Ensemble will reprise Oliver’s newest work The Emerald Necklace June 4 at Frederick Law Olmsted National Historic Site. The program, entitled “Lungs of the City” commemorates the bicentennial of Frederick Law Olmsted, widely considered the father of American Landscape Architecture.
The Emerald Necklace was co-commissioned by Landscape Music, the American Wild Ensemble, Michigan Tech Department of Visual and Performing Arts and Juventas for Lungs of the City: Olmsted’s Parks in Music, a nationwide celebration of Olmsted’s bicentennial.
The program features 7 world premieres, each inspired by an Olmsted design. Oliver’s work the Emerald Necklace will be performed alongside new pieces by Nell Shaw Cohen, Michael-Thomas Foumai, Libby Meyer, Ayumi Okada, Christina Rusnak and Ryan Suleiman.
