Juventas New Music Ensemble will perform two of Oliver’s works in its March 20 concert “Small Bear, Large Telescope.”
Lunastella Fuga (string quintet), commissioned by the Sinfonietta of Riverdale, was composed during the dog days of summer, nights spent gaping at the stars and wandering the New Hampshire woodland aglow in the otherworldly light of a blue moon.
Connect All. We All Connect. (soprano, horn, piano), commissioned by horn player Anne Howarth, sets lyrics by Master Palindromist Barry Duncan, exploring interconnectedness in today’s world.
The program also includes works by Stephanie Ann Boyd, Carson Cooman, Jessie Montgomery, J.A.J. Sedarski, Eric Whitacre and Emma Wine.
The event will be live-streamed on YouTube at 8pm on March 26. Audience members are also invited to join a pre-concert “Composer Conversation at 7pm on Zoom. Both events are free and open to all.
