9/18: Hope College Winds perform “Krummholz”

September 6, 2017

The Hope College Wind Ensemble will reprise their spring performance of Krummholz Variations on a program of chamber music for winds and brass. The Ensemble is part of a nationwide consortium of ensembles that commissioned Krummholz Variations as a companion piece for the unique instrumentation of Stravinsky’s beloved Octet: flute, clarinet, 2 bassoons, 2 trumpets and 2 trombones. Inspired by life in the alpine zone, Krummholz Variations is an ode to moments of beauty in the face of harsh conditions.
