Oliver first developed ties with the neighboring Malden arts community while Composer-in-Residence for Firebrand Concert Series’ 2012-13 concert season. As part of the collaboration, Firebrand commissioned To the Sea, a string quartet dedicated to the Bike to the Sea rails-to-trails program.  Since then, he has also partnered with Malden Creates on their holiday popup market, featuring local artist..
