Sun valley chamber winds premieres krummholz variations

The Sun Valley Chamber Winds will premiere Oliver’s newest work Krummholz Variations, a tone poem that recalls aspects of life in the alpine zone.

Krummholz Variations was commissioned by a consortium of 13 ensembles as a companion piece for the unusual instrumentation of Stravinsky’s beloved Octet (flute, clarinet, 2 bassoons, 2 trumpets, 2 trombones). Consortium partners will present additional premiere performances around the country this coming year.

The Sun Valley Chamber Winds concert also includes the Stravinsky Octet, and new music by Chris Lamb.
